We were very saddened to hear of the death earlier this week of Fr Kieran O’Mahony OSA. We have printed his ‘thought for the day’ many times in our weekly newsletter.

Fr Kieran was ordained in June 1976. Over the years, many students benefited from his lectures at Milltown Institute, where he was Head of Scripture, at Mater Dei Institute of Education and elsewhere. He was Co-ordinator of Biblical Studies in the Archdiocese from 2010 to 2020, Parish Chaplain in Donnybrook from 2020 to 2023, and assisted along the way at St Mary’s Cathedral. Among his activities, he organised pilgrimages to Biblical sites, engaged people via the Tarsus Scripture School, and helped to found and organise Ecumenical Bible Week. He was an enthusiastic member of the Dublin Diocesan Synodal Animation Team.
